Personal Wealth Management is a far reaching and very subjective topic. As an Investment Advisor, we specialize in two specific areas of wealth management:-
1. Clients who seek to accumulate wealth by saving regularly for the future, perhaps for a specific purpose like retirement, to pay off a mortgage, or future education fees but also those who simply wish to set aside some of their monthly earnings for the future.
2. Clients who have built up a lump sum cash reserve but realize that bank account interest will not create real returns and wish to manage this wealth in a more efficient manner.
Our aim is to help you build and protect wealth in a flexible and cost efficient manner. When assisting clients with these two areas, we firstly define six crucial issues before proposing a bespoke solution :-
Risk - It is essential your portfolio matches your risk profile. Not only does risk need to be established at outset but also it needs to be managed during the IFG Asia/Client relationship. We put forward solutions which specifically meet your current attitude to risk, and then work with you to reduce risk as you near the point where you wish to liquidate your investments.
Diversification - When constructing a balanced portfolio we aim to include the five main asset classes; Cash, Equities, Bonds, Alternative Investments and Property. Our job as Investment Advisors is to ensure you strike a balance between these asset classes and review your weightings to them as market conditions and your personal circumstances change. In addition specific sectors within these asset classes such as commodities, energy and healthcare can also be considered.
Timescale - Our investment advice is sensitive to your timeframe. If investing in real assets, a minimum period of 5 years is usually considered necessary and longer, if goals are related to long-term objectives like retirement or paying off a mortgage. We also consider your expected time as a non-resident of your home country as some nationalities may have to repatriate investments when returning home.
Performance - We aim to achieve returns that you consider acceptable. Whilst no guarantee can be made to achieve these returns, we regularly monitor the performance of your portfolio. With past performance not necessarily being a guide to the future, portfolios can experience short term volatility which may not achieve the returns but over the long-term, your goals are more likely to be achieved.
Currency - Currency is a crucial factor. We focus on your 'base' currency, that is the currency in which you intend to spend the proceeds of your investments and we aim to minimize the risk of currency exposure when your investments near maturity. In the meantime our portfolios can access assets in a variety of currencies including Yen, Sterling, US Dollars, Euro's, Australian Dollars and HK Dollars.
Nationality & Domicile - Your nationality and future country of residence will be need to be considered to propose appropriate investments. It is important we consider your expected time as a non-resident of your home country as certain nationalities may have to repatriate investments before their return home.
